LONGEVITY TIPS
- If a tear is noticed in a CV boot, replace the boot
immediately. Delay in replacing the boot may permit dirt to enter the CV
joint and ruin it. The postponement of a relatively minor CV boot replacement
will necessitate a very expensive CV joint replacement. The boot is the most
vulnerable part of the CV joint.
- If vehicle wheels are immersed in water (either
salt or fresh) to ford a stream or launch a boat, have the CV joints inspected
for water contamination. If water has entered the CV boot, have the CV
joint cleaned and lubricated.
